This year, registering to vote is a multi-step process. We've broken it into 7 steps outlined below. The City Clerk also posted a series of three videos to assist new voters here. If you have any questions during this process, please contact our helpline at (323)926-8236.

 

IMPORTANT DEADLINES

 

REGISTER TO VOTE IN 3 EASY STEPS

1. Download the paper version of the Vote-By-Mail Application, fill it in, and sign it.

2. Take a picture of your ID and any supporting documents you need to demonstrate stakeholder status. The City’s Documentation Guide contains a complete list of acceptable documents to prove stakeholder status.

3. Email your signed application and supporting documents to [email protected]. 

 

OR YOU CAN REGISTER TO VOTE ONLINE

TO BEGIN GO TO: https://clerkappsele.lacity.org/NCElection/voter/login

 

STEP 1: Click 'Create new account'.

 

STEP 2: Complete Voter User Account information.

 

STEP 3: Check your email for an email from the City Clerk and verify your new account. 

Click the orange button, and you will be taken to a voter application page start page.

 

STEP 4: Complete the Voter Info and Click 'Next'.

 

STEP 5: Complete Stakeholder status page.

Select the Venice (VNC) option from the 'NC' dropdown menu.

Select ONE of the qualifications to vote: Live, Work or Own Property.

Enter your address and mailing address for your ballot.

The system will prompt you to 'Click Verify Address'

Click 'Submit' to proceed.

 

STEP 6: UPLOAD ALL documentation to provide your qualifications.

These are the documents you'll need to demonstrate eligibility, depending on the type of stakeholder you are. 

EVERYONE LIVE WORK OWN PROPERTY

Every vote must upload a valid ID. Examples:

  • Driver License/ID Card
  • Passport
  • Birth certificate

Document that evidences your residency in Venice. Examples:

  • Rent receipt with Veniceaddress
  • Lease agreement
  • Utility bill with Venice address

Document that evidences you work in Venice. Examples:

  • Current business card with Venice address
  • Letter from employer with Venice address
  • Paystubs showing employer address in Venice

Document that evidences you own property in Venice. Examples:

  • Mortgage statement copy
  • Home insurance statement copy
  • Property tax bill copy

STEP 7 (finally!): Check your email for an email from the City Clerk that says “Successfully Submitted Vote-By-Mail Application for VENICE.”

BUT this doesn’t mean you're done. Within a few days, you should must receive another email from the City Clerk stating “Approval of Vote-By-Mail Application for VENICE” (see below). Wait for your ballot to arrive by mail.

TROUBLESHOOTING

If you don’t receive the above two emails, please contact the Los Angeles City Clerk at: (213) 978-0444.

Once ballot arrives - Fill out ballot correctly. You can vote for one candidate in each executive position and ONLY ONE community officer.
